From July 11 to August 7, a team of five residents at Asbury Solomons was going strong in the first-ever Asbury Games, an Olympics-inspired competition to log the most hours of fitness-related activity in one month. By the end, they had captured first place with 480 total hours.

The 2016 Asbury Games is the first-ever system-wide wellness competition between Asbury’s continuing care retirement communities located in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma and Tennessee. When the competition ended, the five teams had logged more than 1,900 hours of fitness activity!

Running, walking, hiking, swimming, fitness classes – everything counted in the fight for the title. The results put to rest the stereotype that retirees spend their days taking it easy. But we already knew that!

The grand prize was $500 to be donated to a charity of the team's choice. It’s a great way to combine Asbury’s focus on senior wellness and our Mission to do all the good we can.

This is just one of many creative ways in which Asbury Solomons empowers residents to live a healthy lifestyle.
